New years, New baby, New songs

Yeah, yeah, I know. We've been pretty quiet for the past few months, but I can assure you we are very much still alive and kicking!

The holidays were busy for all of us, individually, and between various vacations and the run up to the arrival of Gino's new bundle of joy, our plans to record our first album in March had to be pushed back until later in the year (more info to come on that).

Big congratulations to Gino and his wife Yehali on the birth of their second daughter, who came a couple of weeks earlier than expected! They are all beautiful, and we love them!

In the interim, we have been writing new songs and making a push to hopefully have a great full album's worth of material to record later this year. The current state of politics in the world have provided no end of compelling fodder for this new material, which is both great and kind of sad. I'm pretty sure I could write a different song pull of tragedy and angst for every day that has gone by over the past year and change.

I recently read an article which suggests that rock and pop go through 12-13 year cycles of rising and falling popularity, based on which party is in power in the United States. Rock, it would seem, is currently on the upswing, and it's not hard to understand why.

We have also been putting no small amount of money and effort getting the Signal Static house in order by upgrading our rehearsal PA system, re-jiggering pedal boards and fixing stuff. And there was a lot of stuff that needed fixing.

Case in point, earlier this week, three of us were jamming with our new PA system when it was noticed that one of our floor monitors appeared to be growing something inside of it. Randy was convinced that it was some kind of worms and we were all quite alarmed and grossed out, but decided that a song titled 'Worm Speakers' would likely be forthcoming.

Upon further investigation it turns out the "worms" were actually the deteriorated foam lining which had broken down and covered the speakers.

After we cleared out the "worms", we figured out why the speaker wasn't sounding right

It turns out both of the speakers were broken in different ways. C'est la vie, right?

Well, that's all for now. We're looking forward to playing a show for you all in the very near future, and then getting back to the business of recording a kick ass record!
